hi there....
i'm planning to travel to new zealand/australia/fiji starting in dec/jan. i'm trying to find the cheapest tickets and also tickets that are year open.....i don't want to be on a set schedule anywhere, i would like to be able to leave when i want to.
anyone have any suggestions?
i thought about buying a RT ticket to new zealand, get a year long visa there, then buying tickets to australia and fiji once i was in new zealand and return to nz when i was ready to head back to the states. does that make sense?
this is my first big world travel so i'm quite new to all the planning of it all. thanks for all/any information you might have.

Re: south pacific travel
Sun, November 2, 2008 - 7:15 AMI am travelling from Canada to Tahiti, Australia and New Zealand in January and February 2009. The best I could find from North America to Sydney via Tahiti was with Air Tahiti Nui. Los Angeles - Sydney via Papeete (return). Air Tahiti Nui seems quite flexible with layovers etc.
Flights were quite expensive UNTIL you get to Australia and New Zealand. Then things change. Book online with Virgin Blue or Jetstar in Australia or New Zealand....and book ahead if you can because the supersaver fares go quickly. I bought one way tickets after arrival in Sydney, as I am arriving in one place and leaving for another. You get the picture.
And I might add that, for me, the "planning" part of travel is very interesting and exciting.
Bon Voyage!

Wed, November 26, 2008 - 6:46 PMHey there, I've been going down to Fiji for years now and always book thru www.fijitravel.com.
They offer flight's with Air NZ, or Air Pacific... You can get a ticket with them and change your date any time from there, for about $100 US.
And most importantly~ have fun!
