Has anyone ever done this? Any leads, tips, advice? I'm not looking for the typical all-singing, all-dancing entertainer role. More like a guest or short-run entertainer. Cruise line employment websites are mostly dead-ends when it comes to this sort of thing. Any help at all is greatly appreciated!

Re: traveling as a cruise ship entertainer
Tue, December 9, 2008 - 2:14 PMI have only worked as the gift shop manager, but I hung out with the jazz band on board the small ship I sailed with for a few weeks. Most ships require long contracts so I'd shop around. Most people know someone and that's how they get into life as a "shippy."

Sun, December 28, 2008 - 7:27 PMHi Ellen..Please take a look at the sylabus for the six week on-line training course Get Paid To Travel. It's offered through a bunch of education vendors and prices can vary from $90 to about $125. This class will give you valuable information and plenty of websites on types of jobs on cruise ships, how to prepare your resume, handle interviews, or becoming a professional tour manager if you want. To locate the course try: www.ed2go.com - or just google the word "Get Paid To Travel".
