  • Hi, Susie!

I went to Paris for a really fast weekend in January. I read some things online, talked to a couple of friends there, and checked a Rick Steves travel book. The book was great, actually. Told me about the Hop-On-Hop-Off bus, which really was a good deal if you get it for more than one day. I also got a Pocket Map and Guide by Eyewitness Travel ( www.amazon.com/Pocket-Gui.../ref=sr_1_4 ) which was really helpful because it has the Metro and RER lines on it.

I didn't manage to make it to Moulin Rouge, which was right up the street from my hotel, but I hear from a pal there (who coincidentally happens to be a professional tour guide) that it's really a good show. Pretty spendy, but well worth it. Oh, and there's a dress code, too -- it's fancy schmancy. ;)

Here are links to some of the pictures me and my friend, Armelle, took while we were there. Maybe you'll get some ideas from them. :)

I didn't make it to any museums, so I am afraid I'll just have to go back!

Hope you have a fabulous time!

    Hugs,

    • I went for quick weekend gettaway in April a few years back. We took a taxi to the Moulin Rouge, had the absolute BEST creme brulee and coffee at the cafe across the street on the apex and just people watched for hours. From there we walked down the boulevard and all the way back to our hotel in the Opera district. We stopped and had dinner and popped into whatever struck our fancy along the way, getting in around 4am.

It was brilliant! I highly reccommend just setting out on foot without a real destination in mind. It's the best way to discover a city, I think!
