My friends and I are traveling to Thailand this summer and our travel agent gave us a one day lay over in Tokyo (26 hours.) So . . . what would you do with just one day?
Thanks for the help!

Re: One Day in Tokyo
Fri, February 22, 2008 - 8:32 AMI can only assume that you will be flying through Narita. My recommendation would be just to stay in Narita -- it's a really cool town with a great temple, lots of atmosphere and some great food. -

Re: One Day in Tokyo
Fri, February 22, 2008 - 8:59 AMYes - spend less time getting to and from places and spend more time being where you are and enjoying it, especially when you have a short time span. I traveled around the world working on a ship and only had a handful of days in each port and I always preferred spending more time locally than trying to travel far out. The few times I would try to go somewhere far away I felt like 1/2 the time was in a train/car/bus and I should have just stayed put and enjoyed myself.

Re: One Day in Tokyo
Fri, February 22, 2008 - 9:21 AM26 hours hanging out in Narita town? Ugh. You can take the express train to Ueno for something like $25 each way per person, cavort around in town, wander okachimachi or wherever you're into around there, make a visit to yoyogi-koen and check out harajuku. Lots of things to do in 26 hours! Your first priority should always be soba and beer though.
